Celebrate Kids Ocean Day
Every summer, Kids Ocean Day brings thousands of Los Angeles area students to Dockweiler Beach for a beach clean-up and aerial art event.
Graduation Day on the Beach
For many participating students, Kids Ocean Day is their “graduation day” – an opportunity for them to put everything they learned about the environment during the school year into practice by participating in a beach clean-up. The Kids Ocean Day Dockweiler Beach clean-up nets approximately two tons of trash every year.

Taking a Stand in the Sand
After they clean the beach, the students participate in an aerial art piece and a photo is broadcast to media outlets. It’s the children’s chance to take a stand in the sand and send a powerful environmental message to the world.
In partnership with the California Coastal Commission and Keep Los Angeles Beautiful, Los Angeles’ Stormwater Program is a major sponsor of Kids Ocean Day, which was founded in 1990 by Michael Klubock of the Malibu Foundation for Environmental Education.
