Join Mayor-elect Eric Garcetti, elected city officials and representatives from the Departments of Public Works and Recreation and Parks to celebrate the grand re-opening of Echo Park Lake after a two-year rehabilitation project funded by the 2004 voter-approved Proposition O.
The City of Los Angeles began the Echo Park Lake Rehabilitation Project in 2011 to meet state water quality standards and give the Echo Park community an improved and more sustainable lake to enjoy. Key elements of the project include new lake edging, a clay liner to reduce water leaking through the lake bottom, in-lake re-circulation and aeration systems, wetland areas, water-wise landscaping, porous pavement walking paths, and a reconstructed Lotus bed, which is currently blooming. After two years, the park is now ready to be enjoyed once more by the public.
Here are the specifics regarding the Echo Park Lake grand re-opening event:
Date: Saturday, June 15, 2013
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: Echo Park Lake, corner of Logan Street and Park Avenue (public parking will be available at Lemoyne Avenue and Echo Park Avenue, south of Sunset Blvd.)
