Dry Wells
A dry well is a trench or basin completely filled with coarse media, such as angular gravel, to create a porous layer for infiltrating runoff. Dry wells are suitable for foot-traffic, and are typically placed between a driveway or patio and a vegetated area, where runoff from the paved surfaces is used to soak deep into roots of adjacent plants. Dry wells are not suitable for areas that generate sediment or silt laden runoff.
